Leather Care: What You Must Know
Your leather jacket makes you look stylish, your leather couch makes your room look comfortable and your leather bag is one fashionable accessory that you have got. However, though the leather has got that sense of style attached to it, yet it is one commodity that requires special maintenance and care.
Be it your leather lingerie or your leather bag , if either becomes wet, let it dry at room temperature and do not use hair drier or any other device to dry it quick. It might cause the material to shrink and fold.
In case the leather clothing is stained, gently blot the stain using a clean cloth.
Never store leather garments in a box, or a humid place. Stow them in a dry, open area in a temperature controlled environment for them to not only retain their shape but also not contact any degenerative process. Using hangars to hang leather clothing is the best option available. Never cover it with plastic. Leather will dry out.
When it comes to the usual leather cleaning, there are many ways that it can be done: First of all, you can choose to wipe the leather item with a wet cloth and let it dry out at room temperature.
A second way is to use a “Saddle Soap” to clean it. This soap is available at any leather shop and a good coat after soaping the leather will render it clean, shiny and semi waterproof. It must be noted that leather can never become completely waterproof.
In case of blots, avoid chemicals and use only certified leather sprays to clean.
When it comes to suede leather, this material requires more care and maintenance. It is advised that if one has to have a suede leather item last long, then one must clean it every time after being worn.
Never use a chemical fluid for removing spots. There will invariably be rings around the spot.
To remove marks of grease, apply powder on the spot and leave it over night. Brush it off in the morning. They are hard to go otherwise.
